About Yoshida Tea Garden

Yoshida Tea Garden is a long-established tea farmer that started in 1839 in the production area of "Sashima tea" in Koga City, Ibaraki Prefecture. For over 180 years, we have been continuing tea cultivation.

While preserving tradition, Yoshida Tea Garden continues to challenge new values. In particular, we have revived the tea variety known as the “phantom variety,” named "Izumi," and the Japanese black tea made from its leaves has been highly evaluated in domestic and international competitions. This black tea features a vibrant aroma and flavor that has never been seen before, while preserving the tradition of Japanese tea.

Additionally, Yoshida Tea Garden is also working on creating a space that aims to be a “playable tea garden.” Through diverse experiences such as tea field tours, introductions to the tea-making process, tasting experiences, and enjoying tea in the “Teahouse HANARE” in a traditional house, as well as through the “Sauna NAYA,” where you can enjoy tea through your five senses, we create opportunities for people to touch the charm of tea.

In tea production at Yoshida Tea Garden, there is a consistent flow of growing, finishing, and conveying. By minimizing fertilizers and pesticides, respecting natural conditions in cultivation, bringing out the uniqueness of each variety during processing, and creating experiences that communicate the time and background, these accumulations dissolve into the deep flavor of our cup.

Yoshida Tea Garden will continue to explore new values while preserving its historical techniques.

Greetings from the garden owner

Yoshida Tea Garden, the sixth-generation owner

Masahiro Yoshida

(Masahiro Yoshida)

Born in 1969. Graduated from Tokyo University of Agriculture.

Always focusing on things that are "one of a kind", regardless of the field of tea.

Things that have been passed down through Japanese culture, changing shape little by little, but with a lineage that has existed since ancient times. Things that are born in the transformation of a new era and continue to evolve.

These are things that are loved for a long time, and even as years go by, their charm never fades, but rather increases in brilliance. I pour those thoughts into my tea-making, and the tea I produce becomes more refined with age, aiming for greater heights.

I aim to create "one of a kind" tea, and will continue to take on challenges from now on.
